South of the island of Luzon, north of Mindanao and east of Palawan is the main island group of the Philippines, the Visayas. Like emerald jewels scattered in the warm seas of middle Philippines, these islands beckon with the allure of sun, sea and sand and its dive sites offer ample opportunities for underwater explorations. It’s still a secret, that the Visayas offers by far the best possibilities for island-hopping in the Philippines. The major islands are Cebu, Bohol, Panay, Negros, Guimaras, Samar, Leyte and Romblon. Countless little islands surround the tropical archipel.
Panay a large triangular island, is the heart of the Visayan Islands, is subdivided into the provinces of Ilo-Ilo, Capiz, Aklan and Antique and has now over 4 million inhabitants.
